Message from Our President

Welcome to the website of the NUS Students’ Political Association (NUSPA) – Singapore’s leading student organization which aims to foster greater political awareness and active citizenry, providing a platform for all undergraduates to voice their political opinions.

A year after the General Elections in 2011, 2012 has seen incremental and significant changes in Singapore’s political landscape. The government has proposed various initiatives this year, and has promised to continue to meet the needs of the people and listen to their concerns. There has also been an increase in alternative voices in the parliament, and a bolder attempt by Singaporeans to express their views through the new media. Hence there have been greater efforts to engage Singaporeans through the Singapore Conversation in 2012. NUSPA has also kicked off our 38th term with our first forum titled Top Guns, a part of the Guns Series, providing an avenue for the different political parties to share their views and engage in discussion with our students.

In the coming 2013, NUSPA will continue to provide more platforms for students to voice their political opinions, or even to discuss with experts, issues concerning our national and regional policies. Students can look out for the upcoming events that range from greater engagement of students on specific issues like our forum on Social Policies, ASEAN Forum where students can discuss regional issues, or through our Engagement Projects. As a non-partisan association, our flagship publication –The Diplomat –will continue to feature all the events that will happen this year, and there will be special articles written by the guest speakers for our events. If you have been fervent supporters of the annual Kent Ridge Ministerial Forum or the Chancellor's Challenge Shield, remember to keep a lookout for updates at our Facebook Page!

We hope to have you at our upcoming events, supporting and joining us in making Singapore a better place for all.

Yours sincerely,
Ng Huiyi Valerie
President
